The New Age of PR: Integrated Communications in Modern Storytelling

November 12, 2025
PR has evolved. So should we. Gone are the days when PR started and ended with a press release. What used to be a world of media lists and pitches has transformed into something more dynamic, creative, and interconnected. Today, audiences are everywhere – they’re scrolling, streaming, sharing, and searching all at once. That means the way we tell stories has to evolve. A single headline doesn’t cut it anymore. Our job now is to create narratives that live across platforms; that feel cohesive whether someone discovers your brand through a journalist’s article, a viral social moment, an exclusive pop-up event, or an influencer’s unboxing video. Modern PR isn’t just about visibility, it’s about connection. It’s about creating moments that feel human and integrated from start to finish in a world dominated by technology and AI.

What Integrated Communications Means in the New Age of PR

Here at Sundae Creative, integration isn’t just a buzzword – it’s the glue that holds modern communications together.

When PR, social, influencer, and content marketing work in silos, you end up with scattered messages that don’t stick. But when those teams collaborate, you create something bigger (and better): a story that flows naturally from one touchpoint to the next. Integration doesn’t just help brands stay consistent, it makes them more memorable.

Why Integration Is Essential for Modern Brand Storytelling

In today’s crowded digital landscape, brands don’t just compete for attention, they compete for relevance.

Integrated communications ensures that storytelling feels intentional rather than accidental. When teams collaborate across disciplines, brands can deliver messages that feel connected, human, and meaningful at every stage of the customer journey. Integration is what transforms campaigns into cohesive brand experiences.

How the PESO Model Supports Full-Funnel PR Storytelling

Modern integrated PR is built on the PESO model: Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned media. But modern PR pushes beyond this framework to include experiential campaigns, partnerships and community engagement.

Earned media builds credibility through third-party validation such as press coverage and interviews. Owned media including blogs, newsletters, podcasts, and social channels, allows brands to tell their stories in their own voice. Shared media amplifies narratives through community engagement, influencer partnerships, and user-generated content, adding authenticity audiences trust. Paid media strategically extends reach, ensuring stories connect with the right audiences at the right moment.

Together, these channels support storytelling across the full funnel from awareness to engagement to loyalty.

Case Study: Integrating PR and Influencer Marketing to Build Brand Equity

A great example of this in action is our work with Must Société, where PR and influencer marketing come together to create a cohesive brand story. Through targeted media outreach, we’ve secured earned coverage that positions Must Société as a design destination, earning features that spotlight its elevated aesthetic and curated products.

Meanwhile, influencer collaborations serve as the shared media layer, bringing the brand to life in authentic, real-world settings. We take this one step further through collaborative posts with our creators, ensuring that content lives not only on the influencer’s feed but also directly on Must Société’s Instagram profile. This approach bridges shared and owned media, giving the brand’s storytelling a longer life and a broader reach.

To maximize visibility, we also incorporate paid amplification, boosting influencer content to reach design-minded audiences who are ready to engage, explore, and shop. The result is a unified brand experience that feels authentic, aspirational, and consistent across every touchpoint.

The key? Integration ensures all these elements speak the same language and tell a story that’s consistent, compelling, and impactful.

How Experiential and Community-Driven PR Creates Emotional Connection

Experiential PR transforms storytelling from something audiences see into something they feel.

Pop-ups, immersive events, and interactive brand moments allow people to experience a story firsthand. Community-driven strategies, such as user-generated content, social participation, and shared experiences deepen emotional resonance and invite audiences to become part of the narrative rather than passive observers.

These moments often live far beyond the event itself through organic sharing and word-of-mouth.

Experiential PR in Action: Pop-Ups, Influencer Events, and Brand Moments

Take Prime Pages: A Holiday Café Pop-Up as an example. By combining exclusive events with influencer-led social content and community engagement, we were able to create a campaign that felt immersive, authentic, and highly shareable across every touchpoint.

Another prime example of Experiential and Community-Driven Storytelling was the Robert Barakett Holiday Soirée in New York City where we hosted the top influencers and media in the city for an exclusive evening with the brand. The event brought Barakett’s timeless luxury to life through thoughtful details–guests wore signature pieces, enjoyed curated dining, and got a sneak peek at the upcoming collection. They even had a chance to meet and talk with Robert Barakett himself, creating personable connections with the brand. It wasn’t about selling; it was about connecting. In turn, this generated organic media coverage and influencer interest for more partnerships.

Why Authenticity Is the Most Important Element in Integrated PR

No matter how advanced PR tools get or how fast the landscape changes, there’s one truth that stays consistent: authenticity always wins.

The most successful integrated campaigns feel human. They show real people, real values, real emotion, and real connections. Whether it’s a heartfelt founder story, an influencer’s honest testimonials, or a community-led initiative, authenticity is what transforms a message from a post into a connection.

Integration ensures that authenticity isn’t just a moment, it’s a mindset. Every touchpoint reinforces the same truth about who the brand is and why it matters.

The Future of PR: Integrated Communications That Are Seen, Felt, and Remembered

The new age of PR is bigger, bolder, and more interconnected than ever. Integrated communications is about connecting the dots between PESO, influencer partnerships, experiential campaigns, and content marketing to tell stories that resonate, engage, and stick.

At Sundae Creative, we believe integration is where creativity meets strategy–where every element works together to tell me a story that isn’t just seen, but felt. When done right, modern PR isn’t just about being heard, it’s about being remembered.
